Hand woven Eri Silk Scarf / Stole , natural Indigo dyed from our looms in Assam .
The base material is hundred percent Eri Silk . It has been hand woven and pattern dyed in the tie and dye method .
Eri silk is procured from the caterpillar Samia Cynthia Ricini and is found in the north eastern state of Assam and nearby region. Eri is also categorised as Ahimsa or Peace Silk as it is one of the rare silk that is procured from ruptured cocoons. Hence it is always spun silk .
The scarf is soft and has beautiful subtle sheen . It has mill spun fine Eri silk in the warp and hand spun Eri silk in the weft . It has also gone through the process of calendaring to smoothen the texture . The blend of mill spun yarns and hand spun yarns lends a very unique texture and hand feel to the fabric.
Eri Silk inherently does not have any bright sheen. It always has a very subtle sheen . It looks and drapes like cotton but has all the inherent silk properties.
