Orange Handloom Traditional Mekhela Chador Set from our looms in Assam , India
It has mulberry silk in warp and mulberry silk in weft . All the extra weft motifs are in natural brown eri silk yarns and natural off white eri silk yarns .
The set has a soft contrast blouse piece as shown in the images . It is soft peach in colour with a thin border .
Mulberry silk is locally known as Pat Silk .
The set is ideal for any formal occasion . The settings of the design and the colour scheme will be considered more contemporary than traditional .
The Mekhla and Chador is a traditional 2 piece dress from the North East State of Assam, India . The Mekhla is 1.20 Mt in length and 37" width when stitched. The Warp will have pleats when worn. The top part or 'chadar ' is a shawl or half -sari which is used to cover the upper portion of the body and is worn on top of the mekhla or wrap. The usual size is 3 Meters long and about 37 inches in width.
Please note that there may be some difference in colours between the actual set and that in the image due to lighting issues and the presence of silks .
