The Mekhla and Chador is a  traditional 2 piece dress from the North East State of Assam, India . The Mekhla is appx 45" length and 36" width when stitched . It is worn as a skirt over the petticoat .  The skirt  will have pleats when worn. The top part or 'chadar ' is a shawl or half -sari which is used to cover the upper portion of the body and is worn on top of the mekhla or wrap. The usual size is 3 Meters long and about 36 inches in width.

Tassar Silk - A wild variety of silk found mostly in the forest areas of Jharkhand , Chattisgarh & Orissa in India .  Tassar silk yarn production is still a village activity & tribal activity providing means of employment to many women of these communities.

Natural Tassar comes in off whites to light golden shade depending upon many factors. In this case , the Tassar yarns are natural light golden colour .

The fabric hand feel is very soft and the set is very easy to carry .  The presence of tassar gives the set a slight crisp texture.

It has a blouse piece that comes with a border.

We try to capture the exact colours but due to lighting issues , there may be slight difference of colour between the actual product and that of the image.
