Handloom traditional  Mekhla Chadar in Mulberry Silk .  

This is a genuine handloom product from our looms in Assam, India. 

The Mekhla and Chador is a  traditional 2 piece dress from the North East State of Assam, India . The Mekhla is appx 45" length and 36" width when stitched . It is worn as a skirt over the petticoat .  The skirt  will have pleats when worn. The top part or 'chadar ' is a shawl or half -sari which is used to cover the upper portion of the body and is worn on top of the mekhla or wrap. The usual size is 3 Meters long and about 36 inches in width. 

The set has mulberry silk in the warp and weft .  Mulberry is also known as Pat silk in Assam . 
Here the interwoven motifs are in mercerised cotton . 

The mekhla chadar comes with blouse piece that has a border . But you can mix and match it with any contrast colour.
