This is a handloom product from our looms in Assam , India .
The shawl has been woven on basic traditional looms . It has hand spun yarns in the weft and mill spun yarns in the warp and has been woven in twill weave. The presence of hand spun yarns and the twill weave gives the shawl a very unique texture .
Eri silk is procured from the caterpillar Samia Cynthia Ricini and is found in the north eastern state of Assam and nearby region.
Unlike other silks, it does not have any sheen as the silk is obtained from naturally raptured cocoons , hence also known as Ahimsa Silk . Since the silk is always spun , It has very subtle sheen .Eri looks and feels like fine cotton but has the properties of silk . It has anti -fungal and iso thermal properties ( constant temperature ).
