This is a Handloom, Hundred Percent Pure Muga Silk Saree from the looms of ASSAM.
The saree is has a gorgeous natural golden sheen that is absolutely unique to muga silk .
The Saree is more contemporary than traditional as it has been woven in the lightweight manner so that it is easier to wear and handle. . Also , the saree is very lightweight .making it very easy to handle .
Muga Silk - The most valued silk from India. Almost exclusively reared and produced in Assam, India. It is indigenous to the Brahmaputra Valley and assiduously practiced in the districts of Assam. The moth is basically a wild moth. Hence it is categorised as Vanya Silk or Wild silk by the silk board of India.(http://csb.gov.in/silk-sericulture/silk/vanya-silk/)
The yarn produces is a natural rich golden yellow or light brown colour depending on the host plant it feeds on. These are unique products. Muga silks resist sunshine and are more durable than mulberry silks. Muga silks can be termed Organic as no harmful chemicals have been used in the cultivation of host trees or in the processing of silk fabrics. No dyes are applied to the yarns. The golden colour is its natural colour. Most Muga rearing and cultivation is still done by village clusters in Assam in the traditional method.
Pure Muga Silk fabrics will have some uneven textures as the yarns are from a wild moth . Wild silks do not come with consistent yarn thickness. And they are inherently fluffy when new .
You can use normal Iron set at silk temperature to press .
It will settle down and will become softer over the years. The beauty of the yarn is that it retains its lustre & looses very little strength even when washed over the years .
The Saree comes with a plain Golden Muga Silk blouse piece .. You can also wear it with any contrast coloured matching blouse or jacket. The blouse and necklace featured in the image is for photography purposes .
We have not added the tassels . We will do all the finishing before dispatch . If you want any specific colour in the tassels , please let us know.

This Sari will come with authentication test . This is a government certified tag that ensures the authenticity of the yarns. We will also provide GI tags .
We try to capture the exact colours but due to lighting issues , there may be slight difference of colour between the actual product and that of the image.
Wash Care - You can hand wash this saree as no other coloured yarns are present . Use mild detergent . Do not wring . Shade dry . Store in cool and dry place . It will outlast one’s life time if properly stored and taken care of .
Do check with us the availability of the saree before placing the order as we may sell it out from our other channels . In that case , if required , we will make it on order . Depending upon the situation , it make take up to 1.5 months for us to deliver the saree.
