Handloom traditional Mekhla Chadar in Mulberry Silk .
This is a genuine handloom product from our looms in Assam, India.
The Mekhla and Chador is a traditional 2 piece dress from the North East State of Assam, India . The Mekhla is appx a 2 .5 meters by 36 Inches fabric , which is used as a lower wrap / skirt by Assamese Women. The Warp will have pleats when worn. The top part or 'chadar ' is a shawl or half -sari which is used to cover the upper portion of the body and is worn on top of the mekhla or wrap. The usual size is 3 Meters long and about 36 inches in width.
The set has mulberry silk in the warp and weft . Mulberry is also known as Pat silk in Assam .
Here the interwoven motifs are in viscose yarns . The set is in contrast fashion . The blouse and Mekhela are in Maroon and the chador in soft beige .
The mekhla chadar comes with blouse piece that has two motifs for sleeves .
