Natural Dyed Handloom Eri Silk Saree from Assam , India
Natural Dyed Handloom Eri Silk Saree from Assam , India
Handwoven Mulberry Silk by Eri silk saree from our looms in Assam , India .
All yarns are either natural dyed using locally available plant dye extracts or are in their natural colours.
The beige colour of the saree was achieved by dyeing the yarns with tea extracts .
The saree has Mulberry Spun Silk in the warp and Eri silk in the weft and all the interwoven motifs in Eri Silk making this saree a hundred percent silk saree.
Spun silks are produced from cocoons waste or pierced cocoons . Hence they are always spun and do not possess the typical shine associated with silks .. Eri Silk on the other hand is always spun .
Since Eri Silk is there, the saree does not have the typical sheen that is associated with Silks from India. Eri Silk is an indigenous Silk variety from India found in Assam and some other North Eastern States. The lack of sheen is typical of Eri Silks. Eri Silk is also known as peace silk or Ahimsa silk .
Eri Silk looks and feels like cotton but has the unique properties of silk . Eri Silk is a all weather silk .It blends beautifully with other silks like mulberry or tassar . In this case the combination of mulberry spun and Eri creates a very unique texture .
The saree is an all weather sari and good for any formal or semi formal occasion .
Eri silks are easier to care for than mulberry or Tassar. They also have anti fungal properties that makes it excellent for anyone with skin allergies towards silks or other fibres.
It has a blouse piece that comes with a border and all over motifs as seen in the picture .
The Saree is very lightweight and very easy to handle .
We try to capture the exact colours but due to lighting issues , there may be slight difference of colour between the actual product and that of the image.
