Handwoven yarn dyed Cotton by Eri silk material by meter .
It has Cotton in the warp and hand spun Eri Silk in the weft . Textiles woven from hand spun Eri Silk yarns have very unique texture . The yarns are naturally uneven in texture and fineness . Hence the textiles reflect that.
The yarns have been dyed with natural Manjistha . Due to the natural dyeing process , there will be an element of unevenness in the dyed fabric that gives the fabric it's unique look.
Eri silk is procured from the caterpillar Samia Cynthia Ricini and is found in the north eastern state of Assam and nearby region.
Unlike other silks, it does not have any sheen and the silk is obtained from raptured cocoons. Historically Eri Silks was used to make shawls and other similar articles for winter . Nowadays , we blend it with other silks or cotton to create different kinds of textiles.
Since it has hand spun yarns in the weft, it has slightly dry and uneven texture which lends the fabric the unique touch and feel .
The fabric has a good fall and is ideal for shirts , dresses , skirts , blazers , coats. It may not be ideal for summer items but perfectly suitable for items that are for milder temperature .
Please note that due to lighting issues and presence of silk and natural dye , there may be slight difference in colours between the actual product and that in the image.
