The Mekhla and Chador is a traditional 2 piece dress from the North East State of Assam, India . The Mekhla is appx 1.20 Mt in length and 37" width when stiched. The Warp will have pleats when worn. The top part or 'chadar ' is a shawl or half -sari which is used to cover the upper portion of the body and is worn on top of the mekhla or wrap. The usual size is 3 Meters long and about 37 inches in width.
The motifs are very traditional in their design and pattern.
Tassar Silk - Listed as Vanya Silk or Wild Silk by the Central Silk Board of India , it is found mostly in the forest areas of Jharkhand , Chattisgarh & Orissa in India .Tassar silk yarn production is still a village activity & tribal activity providing means of employment to many women of these communities.
Natural Tassar comes in off whites to light golden shade depending upon many factors.
Since the Set has tassar , it has slight uneven characteristics like uneven texture and crispness . These are characteristics of wild silks like Tassar and Eri .
The set comes with a blouse piece that has the border . It is 1 meter in length and 36" wide.
Wash Care - Dry Clean only due to the presence of coloured yarns .
