A genuine handloom Traditional Mekhla Chadar from our looms in Assam , India.
The Mekhla Chadar has Mulberry Silk in the warp and weft and the motifs in Muga Ghicha silk and natural off white Eri silk .
Mulberry Silk is known as Pat Silk locally .
The Mekhla and Chador is a traditional 2 piece dress from the North East State of Assam, India . The Mekhla is appx 1.20 Mt in length and 37" width when stitched. The Warp will have pleats when worn. The top part or 'chadar ' is a shawl or half -sari which is used to cover the upper portion of the body and is worn on top of the mekhla or wrap. The usual size is 3 Meters long and about 37 inches in width.
Ghicha silk is procured from the cocoon wastes in the traditional hand spun manner . It is procured from silks like Tassar and Muga . It has a rough texture . Very unique texture. In this case , the white motifs are in Eri silk and the brown motifs in Muga Gicha silk.

It has a blouse piece that comes with a border.
