The Mekhla Chadar has Mulberry Silk in the warp and weft and the motifs in modal .The set is extremely light weight and has a contrast blouse piece and Mekhla ( Bottom Skirt ) that has stripes.
The Mekhla and Chador is a traditional 2 piece dress from the North East State of Assam, India . The Mekhla is appx a 2 .5 meters by 36 Inches fabric , which is used as a lower wrap / skirt by Assamese Women. The Warp will have pleats when worn. The top part or 'chadar ' is a shawl or half -sari which is used to cover the upper portion of the body and is worn on top of the mekhla or wrap. The usual size is 3 Meters long and about 36 inches in width.
Mulberry Silk is known as Pat Silk locally .
The blouse featured here is the actual blouse that will come with the set. . The set has a blouse piece that comes with a border.
