This is a Handloom, Hundred Percent Pure Muga Silk Saree from the looms of ASSAM.
The pink motifs are in Eri Silk and the brown motifs are in Muga Spun silk . Muga Spun silk is produced from the waste of Muga reeled silk or the cocoon waste.
Muga Silk - The most valued silk from India. Almost exclusively reared and produced in Assam, India. It is indigenous to the Brahmaputra Valley and assiduously practiced in the districts of Assam. The moth is basically a wild moth. Hence it is categorised as Vanya Silk or Wild silk by the silk board of India.(http://csb.gov.in/silk-sericulture/silk/vanya-silk/)
The yarn produces is a natural rich golden yellow or light brown colour depending on the host plant it feeds on. These are unique products. Muga silks resist sunshine and are more durable than mulberry silks. Muga silks can be termed Organic as no harmful chemicals have been used in the cultivation of host trees or in the processing of silk fabrics. No dyes are applied to the yarns. The golden colour is its natural colour. Most Muga rearing and cultivation is still done by village clusters in Assam in the traditional method.
The Saree is more contemporary than traditional but the motifs are the traditional tribal motifs . Since all the yarns used here are silk , it is a hundred percent silk saree . It is lightweight . The fluffiness is inherent to wild reeled silks .
You can use normal Iron set at silk temperature to press .
It will settle down and will become softer over the years. The beauty of the yarn is that it retains its lustre & looses very little strength even when washed over the years .
The Saree comes with a plain Golden Muga Silk blouse piece. You can also wear it with any contrast coloured matching blouse or jacket. The blouses featured here are only for photography purposes .
Saree Length - 5.6 mts , Width - 46 "
This Sari will come with authentication test . This is a government certified tag that ensures the authenticity of the yarns. We will also provide GI tags .
We try to capture the exact colours but due to lighting issues , there may be slight difference of colour between the actual product and that of the image.
Also note that there may be some inconsistency on the fabric surface due to the presence of these wild silk yarns and inconsistencies are also part of handloom process. These are not defects .
Do check with us the availability of the saree before placing the order as we may sell it out from our other channels . In that case , if required , we will make it on order . Depending upon the situation , it make take up to 1.5 months for us to deliver the saree.
