Lime Green Linen by Silk Mekhla Chador from Assam , India

Lime Green Coloured Contemporary Mekhla Chadar in Linen and Mulberry Silk Mix.

This is a genuine handloom product from our looms in Assam, India.

This is a traditional 2 piece dress from the North East State of Assam, India . The Mekhla is a 3 yard by 1 yard fabric , which is used as a lower wrap by Assamese Women. The Warp will have pleats when worn. The top part or 'chadar ' is a shawl or half -sari which is used to cover the upper portion of the body and is worn on top of the mekhla or wrap. The usual size is 3 yards long and about 1 and 1/2 yards in width.

The Traditional Mekhla /chadar have been given a modern twist in this Linen by silk Mix piece infused with Eri Silk motifs.

The presence of Linen makes this piece ideal for summer. But we have mixed it with Silk , so it can be worn as easily for our mild winters as well .

The mekhla chadar comes with a Lime Green blouse piece with borders.
