Handloom Traditional Mekhela Chador Set from our looms in Assam , India
It has mulberry silk in warp and mulberry silk in weft . All the extra weft motifs are in natural off white colour Eri Silk with touches of silver zari.
The set has a blouse piece that has the border.
Mulberry silk is locally known as Pat Silk .
The set is ideal for any formal occasion . The settings of the design and the colour scheme will be considered more contemporary than traditional .
The Mekhla and Chador is a traditional 2 piece dress from the North East State of Assam, India . The Mekhla is 1.20 Mt in length and 37" width when stitched. The Warp will have pleats when worn. The top part or 'chadar ' is a shawl or half -sari which is used to cover the upper portion of the body and is worn on top of the mekhla or wrap. The usual size is 3 Meters long and about 37 inches in width.
