The Mekhla and Chador is a traditional 2 piece dress from the North East State of Assam, India . The Mekhla is appx 1.20 Mt in length and 37" width when stitched. The Warp will have pleats when worn. The top part or 'chadar ' is a shawl or half -sari which is used to cover the upper portion of the body and is worn on top of the mekhla or wrap. The usual size is 3 Meters long and about 37 inches in width.
In this style - the Mekhla is has mulberry ( reeled ) in the warp and weft . The Chador has raw silk in the warp or weft . Raw silk is locally known as Kesa Pat . Raw silk is the non degummed reeled mulberry silk yarns. Technically Organza but hand woven . So , it has the slight crispness and is translucent in look and feel .
The interwoven motifs are in golden zari ( guna ) and acrylic.
The Set comes with mulberry silk contrast 1 mt blouse pc in blue as shown in the image .
